Why you will love my class:

It's rather presumptuous of me to assume you’ll love my class. After all we’ve only just met. Love is a strong word I typically reserve for friends, family, my dog, baked goods, and sleeping in. However what I can guarantee is that I will do my best to ensure you receive the proper amount of instruction, advice, and guidance all while working hard and having fun. While we all have different reasons to be here, ultimately I think the most important thing is that you have a good time. If you’re not enjoying yourself, what’s the point? I believe it’s possible to laugh and smile all while suffering through the hardest of workouts.

An Illinois native, I grew up and attended high school in Mt. Prospect, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago. I was always drawn to endurance athletics and in my senior year I won a state title in track and field.  I ran throughout college at the University of Illinois and upon completing my Bachelor’s in English I began racing competitively in triathlon and road cycling.  During that time I qualified for the Boston Marathon, won Illinois' road racing title, raced at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, and set multiple course records in triathlon. Perhaps my biggest accomplishment though was winning the Chicago Triathlon sporting nothing but a mustache and a Speedo. For the time being I have put racing on the back burner, instead preferring to spend my time traveling or working toward a Master’s Degree of Secondary Education.

Beginning in college and throughout all this, I’ve been working in bike shops as a mechanic. Now in my eleventh year as a wrench, I’ve become a solid source of knowledge in all things cycling. To me, bikes are more than just equipment to race. They are pleasure cruisers for ice cream, sources of cross-training or exercise, and a great mode of transportation. Whether you have a race bike or an old sentimental heirloom, I want to be your cycling resource center for advice and service.
